ITINERARY:

Day:01

Arrival at Amritsar railway station and transfer to hotel, Overnight stay in Amritsar.

Meal: Evening tea-snacks and Dinner.

Day:02

After lunch, visit Wagah border. In the evening, return to Amritsar. Our vehicle will drop you off near the   

Golden Temple. Overnight stay in Amritsar.

Meal: Morning tea, Breakfast, Lunch, Evening tea-snacks and Dinner.

Day:03

Early in the morning proceed to Dalhousie [ approx. 200 KM 6-7Hrs ]. On arrival transfer to hotel and rest of   

the day free time for individual activities, overnight stay in Dalhousie [approx. altitude 6500ft].
Meal: Morning tea, Breakfast, Lunch [on the way], Evening tea-snacks and Dinner.

Day:04

After breakfast start for the local sightseeing of Dalhousie like, Chamba, Laxmi Narayan Temple, Khajjiar,

 [approx. round trip, hotel to hotel 100km]. Overnight stay in Dalhousie. 

Meal: Morning tea, Breakfast, Lunch [on the way, during sightseeing], Evening tea-snacks and Dinner.

Day:05

Early in the morning checkout from Dalhousie hotel and proceed to Dharamshala [approx. 140KM]

Overnight stay in Dharamshala [approx. altitude 4800ft].

Meal: Morning tea, Breakfast, Lunch [on the way ] Evening tea-snacks and Dinner. 

Day:06

After lunch start for covering the possible local sightseeing [approx. round trip, hotel to hotel 45km]of

Dharamshala like, Macleod gunj, Monastery, St. Johns church, stadium etc. Overnight stay in Dharamshala.

Meal: Morning tea, Breakfast, Lunch [on the way during sightseeing] Evening tea-snacks and Dinner.

Day:07

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and depart Dharamshala for Chintpurni [75km] or Jawalamukhi [53km]  or any other suitable destination. Upon arrival, visit the temple for Devi Darshan, then check in to hotel. Spend the night at the hotel.

Meal: Morning tea, Breakfast, Lunch, Evening tea & snacks and Dinner.

Day:08  Early in the morning [around 06:00am] checkout from hotel and transfer to Amritsar airport to board the flight for return journey. [Chintpurni to Amritsar airport = approx. 170km / Jawalamukhi to Amritsar airport = approx. 210km ]

Meal: Morning tea, Breakfast or Lunch.

 

DHARAMSHALA: The High snow clad Dhauladhar ranges form a magnificent backdrop to the hill resort of Dharamsala. This is the principal township of Kangra district and overlooks wide spread of the plains. Lower Dharamsala (1380m) is a busy commercial centre. While upper Dharamsala (1830m) with the suburbs of Mcleodganj. Dharamshala is a city in the upper reaches of the Kangra Valley and is surrounded by dense coniferous forest consisting mainly of stately Deodar cedar trees. The suburbs include McLeodGanj. The village of McLeodGanj, lying in the upper reaches, is known worldwide for the presence of the Dalai Lama. On 29 April 1959, the 14th Dalai Lama (Tenzin Gyatso) established the Tibetan exile administration in the north Indian hill station of Mussoorie. In May 1960, the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) was moved to Dharamshala. Dharamshala is the centre of the Tibetan exile world in India. Following the 1959 Tibetan uprising there was an influx of Tibetan refugees who followed the 14th Dalai Lama. His presence and the Tibetan population has made Dharamshala a popular destination for Indian and foreign tourists, including students studying Tibet.

ST. JOHNS CHURCH : 8 km from Dharamsala, between Forsythganj and Mcleodganj is the charming church of St. John in the Wilderness. Under the shade of deodar branches, a memorial has been erected over the body of the British Viceroy, Lord Elgin who died at Dharamsala in 1863. There is a well tended old graveyard on these grassy sloped.

 

MC LEOD GANJ : Often called the Little Lhasa, at 1770m is the residence of His Holiness, The Dalai Lama. The Tibetan Government in exile has been head quartered here for over three decades. The impressive monastery has larger than life images of the Buddha, Padmasambhava and Avaloktwshwara. The large Tibetan community and the presence of traditional architectural designs drawn from Tibet have enhanced the area. Tibetian handicrafts and garments are available on sale every Sunday. The Tibetian Institute of Performing Arts is just a km away and organises a ten day festival from the second Saturday of April.

KHAJJIAR:

Often called Indias Switzerland, the exquisite glade of Khajjiar (1960m) has a circumference of about 5 km. Along its fringes, thick forests of deodar climb the slopes, the snow-line rests above these woods. At Khajjiar there is a 12th century temple dedicated to KhajjI Nag. Within the temple are life size wooden images of the five Pandav brothers.

DALHOUSIE

In western Himachal Pradesh, the hill station of Dalhousie is full of old world charm and holds lingering echos of the Raj era. It covers an area of 14 sq. km. and is built on five hills - Kathlog, Patreyn, Tehra, Bakrota and Balun. It is named after the British governor General of the 19th century, Lord Dalhousie. The towns average height is 2036 m, and is surrounded by varied vegetation - pines, deodars, oaks and flowering rhododendron. Dalhousie has charming colonial architecture, including some beautiful churches. Its location presents panoramic views of the plains and like a long silver line, the river Ravi twists and turns below Dalhousie. The spectacular snow-covered Dhauladhar mountains are also visible form this enchanting town.
